The House

Here's my home for the next six weeks.  Take a little tour...

The house is situated in a little community back away from the hussle and bussle of the more commercial area of Barra Da Tijuca.  From the way it is set up I think that maybe at one time two families lived here.  From the street you have to enter through the front gate (which is where I was standing when I took the above picture).  Which makes our yard and house very private.

Thats the gate and entryway to the court yard from the street to the house.  The little garage looking structure in the bottom left corner is a clothes dryer Rio style...

Its so funny to see everyones clothes laid out like that.  Luckily at the house we have a washer but no dryer.  Doing laundry here is very expensive and I guess dryers are very rare.  The problem with our dryer is that it was raining all day yesterday and has been cool today.  The guys say on a sunny day a gi will dry but if its rainy or even overcast it can take up to three days.

Moving into the house...
This is the main room.  Those sliding doors open to the courtyard.  It's nice and the doors are always open.  We have wifi in the house but I have noticed most people hang out here and work online.  There's not much to do during the day.  After training in the morning you pretty much just pass time till training in the evening.  Lastly there's my room and my bathroom (more specifically my shower, pay attention because there will be a quiz after these pics).

I'll be getting pictures of the club and town soon.  For now it's time to train...

Ha Ha, I know right. That's what I was thinking. It's the weirdest thing. The shower head is an electric heater.
